Know Your Beanie Babies Facts And Values

Learn the facts and values of your Beanie Babies.

To learn more about Ty Beanie Babies my first suggestion would be to go to www.ty.com Website and check out the information. One can always purchase a monthly magazine dedicated just for Beanie Baby Lovers or study them. There are a ton of websites, books, magazines, newsletters and groups out there that are dedicated to beanie babies.

A beanie baby is a stuffed animal full of beans, never very full though. A Ty Beanie Baby has a Ty tag attached to it. Here is some info about Ty Beanie Babies Beanie babies have been around for some time but Ty beanie babies first made the scene in 1986 in Illinois by a man named Ty Warner. The very first Beanie Babies Ty created were four cats, today there are more than 1000 of them. But it wasn’t until 93 that everyone would get to see the Ty Beanie Babies, Brownie and Punches.

Brownie is a bear and Punches which is also known as Pinchers the Lobster at this point there were a total of nine Beanie Babies released. In the beginning Ty wanted to make these simple beanie babies that kids could afford with their allowance. The Beanie Babies had only a few colors for each, even Spot didn’t have a spot on him. The beanie babies with tags are worth even more since at the time they weren’t considered collector’s items. The original nine babies have all retired and the only way you can get them is by finding someone that actually has one and is willing to sell it.

To determine the price your Beanie Baby’s worth is hard, the prices are always changing and someone is always willing to pay more or less than they are worth. Check out what prices your beanie baby is going for on ebay and this will give an idea of how much it is worth. Beanie Babies get more money if you sell them separately. If you have a Beanie Baby that was retired or taken off the line because they changed or if you have one that is missing a tail or spots they may be worth more money then regular beanies.

Lingo for Beanie Babies would be mint, near mint and excellent condition. Mint condition is when the tag hasn’t been bent or anything. Near mint means the tag is still there but may be bent. Excellent condition is when it looks brand new, crisp and straight from a box. Authenticated Beanie Babies mean they come inside a sealed, clear plastic box with a certificate of authenticity. Retired Beanies are worth a lot more than old ones that aren’t. A retired Beanie Baby means there will be no more made, so those that didn’t get one may want to buy one at top cost. Limited Editions means that only a certain amount would be made and would sell them for before they stopped making them. A Beanie Baby is only valuable to those that collect, even more if they have the little tags on them. Try making sure to keep the tags safe, do not bend or take off the tags. If you really want to protect them buy special protectors for the tags made just for Beanie Babies. If you lose the tag the value will be reduced by 50%. One last way to find out the facts about a Ty Beanie Baby is by using the trading cards. Each trading cards tells: Name, Date of birth, Date of Retirement, if it was retired, their poem and little facts about it. Tips: Beanie Babies that have the old face are worth even more.
